Since 2017, Yayasan EMKAY has partnered with various entities to aid school communities in Belum-Temengor, Gerik, Perak, by providing new school uniforms. This effort continues in 2025 with support from corporate donors like EMKAY Group, Steelcase Office Solutions Sdn Bhd, and other organisations and individuals.
On January 16 and 17, 2025, 400 sets of school uniforms were distributed to SK Sungai Tiang, Royal Belum, and SK RPS Banun, Temengor. A simple ceremony took place on January 16 at SK Sungai Tiang, attended by representatives from Perbadanan Taman Negeri Perak, JAKOA, and Belum Rainforest Resort.
Marking its 24th anniversary on January 12, Yayasan EMKAY hopes this contribution will encourage students to attend school with confidence and enthusiasm. The new uniforms are intended to help students start the upcoming academic session on February 17, 2025, on equal footing with their peers in other regions.
The donation includes 400 sets of uniforms, consisting of primary and secondary school uniforms, and white hijabs for both schools.
In line with the International Day of Education on January 24, Yayasan EMKAY envisions more children from the Belum-Temengor region pursuing higher education, whether academic or technical (TVET). To further inspire this, Yayasan EMKAY also awarded a RM10,000 “Social Enterprise” grant to SK Sungai Tiang for their innovative Entrepreneurship-STEM Buchabloom Tea Project.
This project, the first to receive the grant, merges STEM education with traditional knowledge through kombucha production, involving both current students and alumni of SK Sungai Tiang. The initiative blends community development with sustainable economic opportunities, highlighting Yayasan EMKAY's dedication to fostering growth and education.
