Guru-guru pemangkin pembangunan GRM

Teachers as catalyst in the development of Green Ranger Malaysia

Realising the importance of an education program that increases the awareness of the richness and diverse bio of the Malaysian environment among young children and youths, 43 teachers from the states of Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Johor put up a night at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort to attend the National GRM Trainer Teacher’s Conference 2015, which was held from the 31st of July to 1st of August 2015.

The approach of Green Ranger Malaysia is to learn through experience with the approach of ‘boots to the ground’ where the participants have experiential and fun learning of the environment and their surroundings during the program.

During the conference, the teachers were exposed to the current nature issues, conservation and preservation programs as well as exchange ideas on the programs and activities that can be carried out in their respective schools.

The two day conference was officiated by Tuan Amran bin Kamsi, Assistant Director of the Uniformed body, Club/Society and Outdoor Education, Arts and Co-curriculum Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia.

In his speech, he had urged the teachers to play an active role in developing GRM in their respective schools, especially since it has a good support from NGOs like Yayasan EMKAY and Pulau Banding Foundation, as well as consultants that run the GRM camps. He added that GRM is a comprehensive and balanced module (has academic and non - academic scope), and is holistic. It also focuses on moulding the students based on knowledgeable teaching and learning, language skills, higher order thinking skills, ethics, national identity, and is easy to follow all the times.
